De La Salle College Modern Languages Department offer three languages French, Spanish and Irish. We offer GCSE and AS and A Level exams.

Languages are taught from Year 8 to Year 14. There are:

• 3 teachers of French
• 3 teachers of Spanish
• 2 teachers of Irish

The Language Department has links with:

1. De La Salle College Astorga, Spain
2. The Gaeltacht in Ireland and The Gael Linn Organisation who offer scholarships and organise college  quizzes.
3.  De La Salle College PIC Béziers in France www.wanadoo.fr/pic.beziers.

In Year 10 we organise a day trip to the Opportunity Europe Conference. In 2006 our Year 10 pupils won first prize, on two consecutive days, at the European Geography and Language Quiz Opportunity Europe.
We also won the CEA Language Quiz beating many colleges throughout Northern Ireland - (see CEA website.)

Educational/Cultural visits to the country of the target language are offered in Years 13 and 14. Students are encouraged to work hard and choose languages.

Employability is enhanced when college leavers and graduates in addition to vocational qualifications are proficient in a foreign language.
