This department aims to build upon the good work that students have undertaken in their primary colleges by stimulating a healthy interest in Science and a constructive attitude with which to question the world they live in. It is our aim to ensure that they have the experiences to enable them to gain the necessary knowledge and understanding to:
JUNIOR COLLEGEThe course consists of many short modules covering different aspects of science. They will be allowed to carry out a wide range of experiments and handle complex pieces of apparatus, go on trips to the planetarium and enter external science competitions. Throughout their three years, all areas of the curriculum are revisited and expanded to improve each student’s understanding. SENIOR COLLEGEThe GCSE course followed is the AQA Modular Science programme: (a) Science Core Modular tests (75%); Coursework (25%); No terminal test A LEVELAdvanced levels are offered in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These are demanding courses and students would be expected to have achieved a satisfactory grade in their GCSE Double Award Science course to be considered for the ‘A’ level course. |
