ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA YEAR 8 

During the admissions procedure when applying the criteria, punctual applications will be considered before late applications are considered. The application procedure opens on 30 January 2024 at 12 noon (GMT) and an application submitted by the closing date of 22 February 2024 at 12 noon (GMT) will be treated as a punctual application. An application received after 12 noon (GMT) on 22 February 2024 and up to 4pm on 4 March 2024 will be treated as a late application.

Below are listed the criteria which will be applied in the following order:

  1. Applicants who have a brother or half brother who are currently enrolled in De La Salle College.

  2. Applicants enrolled in the following pool of Primary Schools, applied in the order as listed here:

    Holy Child Primary School, St John The Baptist Primary School, St Oliver Plunkett Primary School, St Teresa’s Primary School, St Anne’s Primary School, St Colman’s Primary School, Bunscoil Phobail Feirste, Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School, Christ The Redeemer Primary School, St Kevin’s Primary School, The Good Shepherd Primary School, St Kieran’s Primary School, Holy Evangelists’ Primary School, Holy Trinity Primary School, St Paul’s Primary School, Ballymacward Primary School, St Peter’s Primary School, St Joseph’s Primary School (Slate Street) and St Clare’s Primary School.

  3. Applicants who permanently reside in the parishes of St. Agnes’, St Michael The Archangel, St Oliver Plunkett, St Anne’s and Derriaghy.

  4. Applicants who are brothers or half brothers of past pupils of the school.

  5. Applicants who have a sister or half sister who attend St Genevieve’s High School (2023/24).

  6. Applicants who are sons of permanent employees of the school in the current school year (2023/24).

  7. Applicants who are sons of permanent employees of St Genevieve’s High School in the current school year (2023/24).

  8. Applicants enrolled in all other Primary Schools, based on alphabetical order of surname followed by forename from A-Z using the “letter by letter” system.

NOTE 1 - The following information must be indicated clearly on the Online Application Form:

  • Criterion 1: The name and class of the brother/s or half-brother/s attending De La Salle College.

  • Criterion 2: The name of relevant Primary School

  • Criterion 3: Proof of residency of the applicant must be provided to the College (upload verification documentation).

  • Criterion 4: The name and years attended by the brother or half-brother past pupil.

  • Criterion 5: The name and class of the sister or half-sister attending St Genevieve’s High School.

  • Criterion 6: The name of the employee and the position held in the school.

  • Criterion 7: The name of the employee and the position held in St Genevieve’s High School.

 

Please Note

When considering which children should be selected for admission, the Board of Governors will only take into account information which is detailed on or uploaded to the Online Application Form. Parents should ensure that all information pertaining to their child and relevant to the school’s admissions criteria is stated on the Online Application Form or uploaded to it.

DUTY TO VERIFY

The Board of Governors reserves the right to require such supplementary evidence as it may determine to support or verify information on any applicant’s Online Application Form.

If the requested evidence is not provided to the Board of Governors by the deadline given, this will result in the withdrawal of an offer of a place. Similarly, if information is supplied which appears to be false or misleading in any material way, the offer of a place will be withdrawn.

WAITING LIST POLICY

Should a vacancy arise after 18 May 2024, all applications for admission to Year 8 that were initially refused, new applications and applications where new information has been provided, will be treated equally and the published criteria applied. This waiting list will be in place until 31st August 2024.

The school will contact parents in writing if their son is offered a place in the school by this method.


If you wish your son’s name to be placed on the school’s waiting list, please inform the school after 1st September 2024. This waiting list will be in place until 30th June 2025.
